SUMMARY:Women's History Month Special! Talkaoke #21
DESCRIPTION:Who is your female hero? Which notable women in history\, politics\, literature or the arts we should all know about? Do you have an inspiring mum\, sisters or a neighbour whom you want to shout about?\n\n \n\nTalkaoke is celebrating Women’s History Month with a special in collaboration with THE WOMEN’S NETWORK  East London and Alternative Arts. Join us on Thursday 31st March\, between 6-8pm\, in person or via Zoom\, at Making Space\, 48 Aberfeldy Street\, E14 0NU.  For this session we ask you to bring an inspiring female character – it can be literally someone you know or a story of someone who inspires you.\n\n\n \nHow can I join?\nCome along to the MAKING SPACE at 48Aberfeldy Street\, London\, E14 0NU or join online via Zoom by following this link.\n \nTalkaoke –is an interactive pop-up talk show\, where you\, the participants\, set the agenda. Every last Thursday of the month we report live from the streets of Poplar and further afield via Zoom about all the matters local and global.\n\n\nTHE WOMEN’S NETWORK  East London is open to women across East London who are members of community\, arts and cultural organisations\, local women’s groups\, and local women residents. The network is co-ordinated by Alternative Arts who also run Women’s History Month in East London. The aim to raise the profile of women\, share ideas\, explore current issues and build a strong network as a supportive resource\, providing inspiration for creating a more equal society. \nFind out more about Alternative Arts’ activities here.\n\n \n\nMAKING SPACE on Aberfeldy Street builds on an immersive arts/culture/heritage programme\, pioneered from next door at The Tommy Flowers Community Pub\, now run by local residents. We offer workshops for local people to learn ceramics\, glassmaking\, music and photography.\nRead about MAKING space and their programme of exhibitions and events here.\n\n\n \n\nHow does Talkaoke work?\nIt’s simple: the Talkaoke host sits in the middle of a round table and you\, the participants\, sit at small tables close by. Each table has a mic and you are invited to talk about anything they like. Each discussion is a journey from one unexpected subject to another: it can be topical\, funny\, deep\, surreal\, and everything in between. The conversation will be visualised live by a digital illustrator! It’s a drop in – so feel free to stay for as long or as little as you can.\n \nFree training opportunity\nIf you are interested in learning our facilitations techniques and have a go hosting a Talkaoke – drop Margot & Mikey a line on info@thepeoplespeak.org.uk to have a chat about it.\n\n \nImage from the previous THE WOMEN’S NETWORK  East London Talkaoke album here.\n\n\n\n
