Lift Festival 2014 – Rip it Up and Start Again

June 4, 2014 @ 7:15 pm - 10:15 pm

‘Lift throws open a window to the world, bringing global stories to London and transforming the city into a stage…’

Throughout the festival The People Speak will be running, or working on, various events. They are hosted by the likes of Amy Lamé and other London notables. Mikey and Zsolti will be at each, knocking up instant visualisations and harvesting ideas for the concluding Who Wants to Be…? session on 26th June.

4th June – Rip it up and start again

Democracy is rotten. Lots of us don’t vote and if we do, it’s often with a heavy heart. This event brings together people who want to change politics itself using new political parties, self-appointed parliaments and anti-politics. Are they helping – or just making the problem worse!?

Compered by Mikey Weinkove of The People Speak with David Van Reybrouck from the Belgian G1000 movement; Bob & Roberta Smith and his Art Party; Doreen Massey who launched The Kilburn Manifesto last year; Indra Adnan from The Downing Street Project, Kierra Box from Make Willesden Green and Prof Graham Smith from University of Westminster.  The evening will also feature party political broadcasts from Danish Politician Uffe Elbaek on behalf of his new political party The Alternative and Eric Mutch a man who once tried to change his name by deed poll to Self-Serving Lying Bastard and currently represents the Basic Income Guarentee Party.

You can purchase tickets for each event on the lift website
