DESCRIPTION:We are back in Thamesmead as part of a series of free public events for the residents. Catch us at The Nest library hosts a cabaret and open mic night featuring fantastic local performers\, where we try out our new idea… Inspired by the card game Top Trumps\, we are developing a new idea for capturing the characters around Cygnet Square and celebrating their contributions to the area! Each card will depict one of the local residents\, listing top facts and skills. \nCheck out the photo highlights from July and September 2021. \n____ \nBetween July 2021 and March 2022 The People Speak have been talking with the local residents of Southmere Estate about their ideas for events on Cygnet Square\, which were brought to life by Continental Drifts in partnership with Peabody. In a series of Talkaokes and vox pops style interviews we learnt about the history of the area\, characters that live here\, challenges and aspirations for the community. The project is a follow on from 2018’s Talkaoke celebrating Thamesmead’s 50th birthday [link to visualisations here]. \n
