Port Eliot Literary Festival

Talkaoke renews its acquaintance with the West Country at the literary fest, Port Eliot. Wander through the grounds of a stately home and wonder at the cutting edge spoken word events going on from live poetry to readings of crit-lit performances and whonosewhat? as well as bump into all manner of art. Talkaoke will be present the whole time not necessarily to make sense of it but to tie all those loose threads into a knotty argument.

Following the success of last year.s inaugural festival, the second Port Eliot Lit Fest featuring The Lawn will take place from Friday 30th July to Sunday 1st August 2004. Set in the magnificent grounds of Port Eliot, St Germans in Cornwall, the event takes place on the site of the extraordinary festival, The Elephant Fayre, held there during the 1980s. The Port Eliot Lit Fest is trying to be unlike any other festival. Writers do not sit mumbling into their beards. At Port Eliot they do something different with words. Featuring an unconventional mix of writers, poets, filmmakers and musicians. The three-day event attracts a wide range of visitors, who can pitch their tents for free and enjoy the performances in 100+ acres of 18th century landscaped parkland in the grounds of an ancient stately home.
