Talkaoke’s first major festival of the year took place over 2 days in lovely Gloucester Park, Basildon, as part of a 2 day event called Bas Fest. The Second day was sadly not as good as the first and we moved the doughnut of chat under a large Gazebo, but this didn’t hinder the chat and the table was a popular as ever.
Topic for the first session included: What football team your support and wheather it is good to support your local team; sport and young people; sporting facilities for the youth; anti-social behaviour; and finally a conversation between the youth and some local policemen.

In the final session of Talkaoke we discussed about immigration and whether skilled workers should be allowed to enter and work in the UK, which moved on to talk about English and in particular Essex culture. From there it went on to discussions about racism and how parties like the BNP deal with these issues.
Later on in the day the conversation took a lighter tone and the discussion shifted to games consoles, fashion, make up and body image which included stereotyping.
